What approvals can I give to Dapps?
Updated
DAPPs can ask a couple of different types of approvals. They typically fall in these buckets
Connection request: This allows the dapp to see your wallet address, read transaction history from blockchain, etc. They cannot access any funds. You can approve this request from DApps you trust not to misuse your data.
Message request: This is a 0 value signing request. Dapps usually want you to sign a message, so that they know you are the owner of the wallet and have enough authority to approve transactions later.
Transaction request: This is a type of request where the Dapp is requesting payment. They will send a request with a certain amount of tokens, or assets. Approving these requests will transfer assets from your wallet to the dapp
All requests show up as pop ups on your Okto app. So once you initiate an action on the Dapp, you should go to the Okto app to check for the request pop up.
How do I evaluate risk of approvals?
We have integrated with blowfish.xyz to provide transaction analyses for you. We will analyse all requests from Dapps for you, and with the help of Blowfish.xyz, we will give you recommendations on whether the DAPP and the transaction is safe. You can then use your judgement to act on the request.
